Filled with consciousness, I am the serene self.
In past, present and future I remain indestructible.
I illumine the three worlds.
Free from attachment and sorrow
I am pure, eternal, serene and wise
beyond the waking, dream and sleep states.
I am content, free of conflicts,
beyond the three qualities,
beyond the beyond.
I am Shiva
I am the absolute,
free of all fear and bondage.
I surpass both matter and light.
I am the quintessence of eternity.
I am Om, the foundation of all,
transcending maya and the world.
The phrase "I illumine the three worlds" is a powerful statement of transcendental consciousness, most famously associated with the Gayatri Mantra. "Om Bhur Bhuva Swaha" is the first line of the mantra, with "Bhur," "Bhuva," and "Swaha" representing the physical world, the world of imagination, and the spiritual world. It is an expression of recognising oneself as a part of that radiant and vivifying power, that illuminates the intellect and dispels ignorance.
