These two, full-day workshops explore the theory, philosophy and practice of utilizing action techniques (i.e. psychodrama, sociodrama, and drama therapy) with adolescent groups. Participate in the creation of a spontaneous and playful environment in which learning is cooperative and celebratory. Enroll for either day or both. Copies of the book will be available at a discount. Space is limited so pre-registration is essential.

Friday:   "A Theoretical and Developmental Perspective"
Fletcher room, Byron Bay Community Centre

Friday participants will explore, in action:
* ways in which developmental needs of adolescents can be addressed in action-focused groups
* parallels between group and individual development
* therapeutic and educational considerations specific to adolescent populations
* elements that contribute to participant safety and participation in an adolescent group


Saturday: "Action Strategies to Support Group (and Group Members') Development"
Studio, Byron Bay Community Centre

Saturday participants will explore, in action:
* therapeutic and educational challenges at various stages of group development
* facilitation of activities that support the group and its members at various stages of development
* ways to incorporate learning from this training into their own work/professional settings

Note: Lunch is on your own each day.

Who Should Attend:
* Professionals working with young people as counselors and/or therapists
* Educators and youth group facilitators

Workshop Presenter: Mario Cossa, MA, RDT/MT, TEP, CAWT, is a psychodramatist, drama therapist and theatre educator who specializes in work with adolescent groups and survivors of trauma. He has conducted training workshops and has presented at conferences in the U.S.A. Canada, England, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
